Fred spent 35 years as the Owner and President of Zip Signs Ltd., an outdoor sign company built on strong relationships and teamwork. He was fortunate to lead an incredible group of employees and serve great clients across Ontario. During his career, Fred also contributed to the industry through positions on the Ontario Industry Board, the National Industry Board, and through involvement in international projects.

Fred’s dedication to his community led him to serve as a Hamilton Police Auxiliary Officer for many years and later as a member of the Hamilton Police Services Board, spending most of his five and a half years as Vice Chair. He and his wife Arlene have three children and four grandchildren, and they are proud to call Hamilton home.

Over the past 35 years, Fred has been deeply involved in volunteer work and governance. His board experience includes service with a Hospital Foundation, the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, a mental health organization, a family services organization in Hamilton, and an international relief and development organization. As a long-time Hamilton resident, I’ve watched our city grow and change — but not always for the better. Over the past few years, City Council has raised property taxes by more than 25%, a decision supported by our local councillor. It’s becoming harder for families and businesses to keep up, and residents deserve better value for their money.
These issues affect all of us. When roads aren’t maintained, when taxes climb higher, and when safety becomes a concern, it impacts our quality of life and the future of our neighbourhoods. I believe we need more accountability, smarter spending, and leadership that puts people first.
Ancaster and our surrounding areas agree we should:
1. Build Roads That Work
2. Lower Property Taxes
3. Reduce Crime
4. End the Rain Tax
Together, we can make sure Hamilton works for everyone!
